molasses
1/2 cup sugar
1/2 cup shortening
2 eggs
2 cups flour
1/2 teaspoon ginger
1/2 teaspoon allspice
1 teaspoon Szeged
Ground Cinnamon
2 teaspoon soda
1 cup boiling water

Mix ingredients in order
listed, dissolving the soda in boiling water.
Bake in shallow pan in moderate oven
40 minutes at 350
Serves 12
Serve topped with whipped cream
